The Piala Giant Final match between Bank Rakyat and Petra Giant provides the Bankers with the opportunity to fight back against the side who destroyed their domination of the league. Previously in the league,the Giants gave Bank Rakyat their one and only defeat.

Goals from Jul Posa and Irwansyah a.k.a Chot provided the Giants with a deserved win in a match that had the Giants a breakthrough in Matchday 2. 

While Bank Rakyat may be the new king of Petra Jaya, deposed Petra Giant still possess an ability to produce the goods on the big stage. However, the pedigree of Bank Rakyat at the top level is well established. They start on Saturday evening as favourites.

Trophy presentation also will be held this Saturday. Come and celebrate!

FINAL - 3rd April 2010, 4:15 p.m, Padang Perumahan Astana (KIV)

The end of Petra Invitational Football League (PIFL) marks the start of the coveted Piala Giant. Piala Giant is a mini knockout round robin which consists of four rightly qualified teams only. The qualification of this cup is by finishing top 4 of the PIFL (4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st). The fixtures of Piala Giant will be seeded in a draw which will be held after the final Matchday.

3 teams have qualified for this event, Bank Rakyat, Axis and Petra Giant.

With only one VIP pass left available to join the Piala Giant, X-Thomian, LHDN, SESCO Orenergy and Masja FC see the final Matchday of PIFL is crucial and winning is their only solution.

Final Matchday : Matchday 7 - The Crowning of the King

This weekend will be the last fixture of PIFL 2010, where the King of Petra will be crowned in glorious ceremony. At this moment, Bank Rakyat, Petra Giants and Axis FC are sweating while waiting in agony for this final matchday. A slip-up from Bank Rakyat will be crucial for the other parties. But for sure, Bank Rakyat would want to end this season's campaign in style..A win is enough for this week's matchup to reach their goal which is to be the first winner of PIFL 2010. Isn't that a history to make??...

For the hopefuls like X-Thomian and Masja FC, all they need is a win to qualify for Piala Giants, but if and only if LHDN falls down to SESCO Orenergy. For SESCO Orenergy, a 7- 0 win is their target to qualify, but with two conditions, X-Thomian loses to Giants and Masja FC loses to Bank Rakyat. Sounds impossible but nothing is impossible in PIFL...

Gameweek 7...Le Magnifique Guerre

The long awaited title deciding week is coming... The throne of Petra will be awarded to the righteously...The best among the bunch, Bank Rakyat, Petra Giants and Axis FC will fight with their heart and soul one last time to be the PIFL league winner..


Bank Rakyat, the current leader of PIFL is looking forward to be the first winner of the PIFL 2010...To do that, they must beat the stronghold of Masja...A win should be enough for them to succeed since their goal difference are far ahead from the others with GD +14...Petra Giants, with GD +7 and Axis, with GD +5, will surely hoping for Bank Rakyat to drop points in the final gameweek to keep their title hopes alive...


For SESCO Orenergy, LHDN, X-Thomian and Masja FC, the final endeavor to qualify for Piala Giants is coming... The best option is winning and winning it big....


However for Crobox FC, the journey has ended... Having GD-19, I'm sure Mr. Ogy will recur again next season with the new Crobox squad...

Matchday 6 : The Face-Off Fixtures

Let It All Off

The shoutbox reflects so many things happening in the PIFL recently. A random anonymous user comments has sparked disagreements among the PIFL community. The culprit accused Petra Giants, the organizer, for not behaving well in the pitch and starting the brawl last week. 

What really happened in the matchup between Petra Giants and Crobox FC?

NOTHING!...no fist fighting or punch landed...only words exchanging, a little push and arguments and tackles and bla bla bla....aren't those thing are common in football?...especially in Sarawak, like 'leaf on a tree'. You gotta have it! Football is a physical game people...Emotions shrouds the players easily...Even world class players like Zidane and Cantona could not control their emotions and anger in the game...

Let me summarize to you...

In the first week, in the match between Axis and X- Thomian, there was a diminutive clash and fuss in the pitch...yet...nothing happened outside the pitch and most important no fist fighting.

In Matchday 5, in the match X-Thomian versus LHDN, one X-Thomian player brazen out the linesman, Abbas in an uncompromisingly manner while the game was still on....yet...no fights...just a minute dispute..

However, in my opinion, the hullabaloo in the Petra Giants and Crobox matchup is more like...unpredictable things that you cannot tell in football games...When it happens, it happens....In the pitch, the referee and the officials are professional...They treat every team including Petra Giants, equally even though they are the organizer of the PIFL. 

All the hard efforts that the organizer has put through to create this one of a kind league shall be rightly privileged and congratulated.
